Some renders can be huge. You may even choose to reboot the computer, especially if you don't shut it down often. Try purging the unused media from your project to free up system resources.

It can also make a big difference to how quickly your project loads. This is done using the button at the top left of your Project Media Window. The problem might be caused by a 3rd-party plugin, or even a native FX. Try bypassing any particularly demanding FX first by unchecking them in the appropriate FX settings window. If that solves the problem then try an alternative plug-in if possible and report the problem. If it always hangs at the same frame or place, the media may be corrupt.

Try replacing the media at that point with recaptured or newly transcoded files. If the render hangs or fails well into the timeline, try rendering it in shorter sections to intermediate files, then import those into a new project to stitch together.

Be sure your intermediate render settings resolution, frame rate etc. The same format codec as your destination delivery format might work OK as an intermediate file, but you may wish to increase the bit rate to maintain quality.

Some 3rd-party plugins allow you to automatically render regions. Further to that, you could try splitting your project into smaller projects for editing and rendering. For example if your project is 30 minutes long, you could work on three minute projects.

After editing each section separately, render an intermediate file from each and import them into a new project to stitch together.

If you are using custom settings for rendering, try rendering using a standard template without any customization applied. If that solves the problem, customize the settings one by one until you find which setting causes the problem. If your media files are scattered across multiple drives, try moving them to a single drive. A dedicated media drive that is separate from your system drive can help.

However smart adaptive deinterlacing does work well. This will cause the render to fail if that drive runs out of space. A workaround is to change the Windows temp folder location using the TMP environment variable, as described here and here. It may also improve quality at the expense of speed.

See part 4 of this post. If rendering hangs VEGAS Pro with Windows 10 Creators Edition or later, a package of measures might be required to work around the problem , involving some or all of these steps:.

If you run out of RAM, the program will crash. Normally render crashes are caused by a Memory overload, due to a particular Video Effect you may have used.

The processing of video effects use a lot of system resources. If you have Video FX at the point, try disabling them temporarily and do another test render.

If it renders OK, you will know that you found the problem. Graphics Cards can also cause problems. Try turning off GPU Acceleration in the preference settings. Make sure to check everything in this video.

Once the empty space was inserted, the length was too long so I tried to make an adjustment Trying to undo and start again was a horrible experience! I literally had to close the program and then once reopend, I got error after error message until finally it did work.

Then I had to start all over again. After this failed attempt, I tried to just create a nice transition effect which also was very difficult to do and finally I just gave up on that.

Since I had paid good money for the program, I tried simply making a nice title. Yes, I did that easily, but when I tried to change the background to one of their custom colors - well that didn't work either.

Now I am left with yet one more useless and expensive program on my computer. Unless you simply want to combine already created small video clips into a larger video, I would stay away from Movie Studio 13! I had and used Movie Studio 12 Platinum for a couple years and I absolutely loved it until it started having issues with Windows 10 and started crashing constantly. I figured Movie Studio 13 would be a step up and it's cheap so I bit the bullet. Movie Studio 13 is a shadow of version 12, though.

First of all, they've tried to make it more noob friendly, but have honestly made it more of a pain to use.

The program is pretty simple to begin with. They took away the option of using the cursor to both trim clips and dissolve, so now every time you want to do one or the other you have to click a separate button to make each function active.

It may not seem like a big deal, but work on an hour-long video and it becomes annoying very quickly. I also don't like how you now have to jump through an extra couple screens to get to the rendering output options. It's so stupid. But worst of all is that the program is completely unstable. It's maddening and so frequent that you constantly work with paranoia because the auto save only kicks in when you add a clip to the timeline.

It's resulted in a compulsion to save after making every little change. I'm not sure what happened to this program, but it's way worse than Movie Studio The interesting thing is that the price for this item rollercoasted up and down over weeks, so I tracked it and purchased it when it was right for me. I have used it now for about 2 years. Easy to install and relatively easy to use upon getting familiar with it.

I say that, because each of these programs have their own way of operating, so the user needs to get used to each. There's definitely nothing wrong with this one and I actually love it. What sold it for me was the HitFilm effects. I checked the cost of a basic collection of HitFilm effects from HitFilm and purchasing this package came out better for me.

It is a nice program with functions that become intuitive and actually make it easy for the user to operate. I see this as a strong competitor to other video production packages, specially given the price. I produced one of my videos using it and using some HitFilm effects.

Update March : I still use and love this package using version It's a mini Sony Vegas. Get fast answers from reviewers. Please make sure that you are posting in the form of a question. Is it because my Windows is not compatible with it, the video card is too weak or maybe there is some other explanation? You are correct. Vegas Pro 19 is only certified to work with Windows It does also work with Windows 11, but is not officially certified yet. Your graphics card is also getting a bit old now, to work with the latest GPU acceleration available in Vegas Pro now, it best to have an Nvidia series or higher. AMD Radeon also works well. Then what version of Vegas Pro should I use for Windows 8.

I can't remember which versions were compatible with Windows 8. My guess is that Vegas Pro 14 was probably the last version that worked with W8.

Everything is now GPU accelerated, which is why you need a modern graphics card for best performance. So, I use Sony Vegas No problem. Tried to render something like that today, told me an error occurred and I couldn't create the file. Not sure what that is about. Re-boot your computer if you don't regularly do that! Try resetting Vegas first. This often fixes random problems that happen out of the blue.

Will give that a shot when I edit again. Thank you. Hi I am trying to render a 28 minute video, three things have happened Its within the last few weeks suddenly started doing this.

(FAQ) How can I stop VEGAS Pro hanging or crashing during rendering?. Sony movie studio platinum 13 rendering problems free

When Movie Studio Platinum or Sony Vegas Pro stops processing in the middle of rendering a video, many things may be resposible. Back then I installed the 32 bit version without issues and the program ran smoothly for nearly 4 years. It wasn't until a few days ago when I. Render with some of the presents and you should be fine. Best option is to leave Vegas since you're not editing - download the free Handbrake program. At the bottom left of your timeline there is a Rate slider. This controls the playback speed and does not affect the render output at all. You can slide this. Try turning off GPU Acceleration in the preference settings. Go to Options/Preferences/Video FX/GPU Accleration - set to OFF and re-start.❿     ❿
